1. Find a successful competitor of yours.
2. Use link popularity checker to check the competitors popularity. Choose a search engine from the popularity results page. This gives you a list of potential link partners.
3. Make a links page in your site, add links to some of the same sites that your competitors have a link with (related to your offering, but not directly competitive).
4. Write an e-mail to each of the webmasters explaining that you like their website. Tell them that you feel that your link to them will be of interest to your users. Include the URL of the page that you placed their link on in the email. Ask them to link back to you. Include a title for your link, and a description of your site.
5. Send out the e-mails, wait up to a couple of weeks for a response, if no response you may either leave the link on your page, or remove it. We usually offer a bold link for anyone who links back as an incentive to them to do it.
6. Is this easy? no it is very tedious, however if you get 200 sites linking to you and you get just 1 visitor each week on average from each, thats 200 visitors!!!
